Organization and Priorities
As of this writing I now have one less project! the '05 Suzuki LT50 is completed. I procrastinated and let it sit for so long and all I had to do was swap out the petcock and replace the air filter. I'm ashamed to say that it took me as long as it did, but I have had this compulsion in me for a while now to keep "saving" projects from other people, but never actually finishing them.
This is a compulsion that comes from some deep issues with my need to just keep building on what I have, while not actually doing anything. I've been meeting with someone to work through my issues lately and she has shed some light on some issues like this that I have been fighting with.
I need to set priorities and set daily goals for myself. I have been struggling to find goals to set that are realistically attainable and I believe I might have found some items for my list.
1. Sweat every day.
This came about from a person I met last year on the DSR 5 ride, Pat. He set a goal for himself to sweat every day for the entire year of 2021. It's not really that hard of a goal, but the true test is the exercise in consistency that you have to work on to maintain that goal. This seems like a worthy number 1 on the list.
2. Use my hands every day.
Not for work, as I am a keyboard warrior and that's all I do, but I mean outside of that. Turn a wrench, draw, do something outside of the norm with my hands. That does not include play video games either.
3.Do something for my wife.
This is a big one. I need to really focus and do something for her every day, regardless of what it is, it needs to be a devoted thoughtful gesture towards her, because without her, I would not be who I am today.
This seems like a short list, but it will actually be kind of difficult. There are always reasons to not do these three things, "no time", "there's too much going on", "I'm too tired", etc. I need to find the reasons to do them every day and continue down this journey that I've started.
